How Credits & Limits Work

A plain-language guide to the "economy" behind DailyQuotes' interactive features.

Credits for /quote and /translate_quote

On free servers:

  • Each successful /quote use costs 1 credit
  • Each successful /translate_quote use costs 1 credit
  • The quote's footer shows how many credits you have left
  • When you're out, the bot shows a Vote button

The free credit cycle:

  • You automatically receive 1 free credit every 12 hours
  • So you can always use these commands a couple of times per day — voting is never required

Voting:

  • Each Top.gg vote grants 3 credits
  • Credits from votes expire after 12 hours
  • Run /sync_vote right after voting to apply them
  • Check your balance anytime with /vote_credits

On premium servers:

  • These commands never use credits — pull as many quotes as you like

Public vs Private Quotes

  • By default, /quote and /translate_quote responses are private (only you see them)
  • Posting a quote publicly in the channel (ephemeral: False) requires a 🌟 premium server

For picture quotes with your own images:

Max uploads per server 8 (including pending reviews)
Max file size 5 MB
Formats PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF
Review Staff-approved before use (you get a DM)

Premium in Plain Terms

Premium primarily unlocks:

  • Custom delivery time for daily quotes (free servers deliver at 06:00 UTC)
  • Picture-style quotes with backgrounds, fonts, and colors
  • Custom embed colors
  • Public (non-private) quote posting
  • Unlimited on-demand quotes — no credits
  • /force_quote to re-run the daily delivery on demand
  • Custom DM delivery time (/dm time)
